Taloola Café - Windsor

While I was in Windsor (and Detroit) this past weekend, we visited a cozy little spot for breakfast...

The french toast had cheese, fig puree and pecans in between, and the grilled cheese had blue cheese, prickly pear preserves and walnuts...yum!  And the Americanos were delicious - a nice surprise indeed!

Lately - July

Lately....

I've been busy, busy, busy making, and re-making DNA...eehhh... :P

Having berries for lunch (strawberry and halloumi salad, inspired by Sandra)...

Having berries for a post dinner dessert...

And receiving lovely snail mail (this one is from the talented Ginette Lapalme - yes, I am a big fan)...

Hope your July is filled with berries, sunshine, leisure and snail mail!

Wonder

It's a lovely feeling when you paint something that makes you happy, and somebody purchases it. As I wrap up the package and draw up the card, I often wonder who the person receiving the package is like and what their reaction is when they open it up.

Farewell Sami Tastebuds...have a safe journey to America!

And now it's time for a little celebration...

Almond and Strawberry Rhubarb gelato!

This Long Weekend...

...was not only spent sleeping in, but catching up painting things for the store....

...indulging in linguine alle vongole....

...snuggling lots with Fig Newton....

...and being thankful to have the time to do all of that!

Happy Canada Day!

A Day of Leisure

Sometimes, good friends move away, or have other life changing events, and it makes you cherish the time spent with them even more.  This was one of those days where I had the opportunity to do just that.

It started out with the perfect breakfast at Sam James (which, in my opinion, is still the best coffee in the city)...

...then making a new friend before leaving...

...and catching up at SJ's with baby Stella, Max and Cloudy (Cloudfoot - my little peg-legged polydactyl "boyfriend")...

Hope you're having a lovely midsummer weekend!
