Yes, I am fascinated by Samis and really would like to jump on the Hurtigruten and go North to see the Northern Lights and visit the lovely reindeers.
Here are some images from an exhibit by Fred Ivar Utsi Klemetsen that I recently saw here in Toronto:
Unfortunately, I missed the "Suddenly Sami" documentary but would loooove to see it!
Lastly, if and when I visit the Samis, I would like to present to them these dolls that I've made. ;)

ReplyDeleteif you decided to stop by Helsinki during your trip to Lapland, please give me a sign, whenever your trip will be! ;-)
Polly: If I ever visit Helsinki, you will be the 1st to know! :D I do really, really want to go to Helsinki and Lapland!!! :O
ReplyDeleteI discovered Erika Larsen’s compelling work once upon a time in the airport of La Paz, leafing through a Spanish issue of National Geographic while trying to recover my 10 lost rolls of film. She spent three years with the Sami, something that shows in her pictures. Have a look at the rest of her work too if you have time, there is a common thread that ties all of her projects together.
