Let There Be Light -- Part 2

So after weeks of tracking down an electrician and getting quotes, the Artemide Talo Suspension light is finally up and installed in the kitchen, centered to the island.  The ceiling doesn't look great, but that comes with the territory of condo/loft living and having to run a raceway from an existing outlet to the desired location. Concrete ceilings and electricity can be a tricky matter. ;P

I am happy with the amount of light I'm getting, as my apartment is very dark during the day, as it's West facing.  It is nice to also have a contrast of brighter whites and warmer yellows in shades of lighting.  The lighting has lit the room entirely differently than the track lighting that was previously installed by the builder, and now, the opposite chalk board wall that I had just painted looks ALOT better than I had previously thought. :)

My favourite light in my entire apartment is the wasabi green Poulsen 50.  Looking at it now, I should've dropped it a couple inches lower......oh well, c'est la vie.  I am working on letting go. ;)

Boooooo urnssss

Ok, so I attempted to paint a 10x10 wall in Sheffield's black chalkboard paint while I have the time. Although the wall looks better in black, somehow the paint left streaks even after 4 coats. :(
My painter might come in to attempt a 5th coat to help smooth things out a bit in the near future.....*sigh*

Please pardon the blurry "before" shot on the left:

Here are the stroke marks:

My painter thinks that it's because chalk board paint requires constant stirring and that perhaps I didn't do that....

Oh well, at least there were some cool paint splotches to amuse myself while I was painting....  :P  :

Vintage Table Lamps

One of the reasons why I love vintage so much is how much character each piece has. I also often wonder about lives and stories of possible interesting people that used to own the pieces.

Here's a set of wood table lamps that I can now finally put to use:

My beloved mushroom lamp that needs a new red flame tip bulb (boooo):

The Perfect Day

While things are at abit of a stand still decor wise at home, I thought I would share a lovely day I had recently....

The day started with brunch at Aunties and Uncles with my friend Mikayo:

I surprised her with a bunny necklace:

Then we walked back to Mikayo's house.  This light is her late Mom's and she just brought it back from Japan:

Afterwards, we went to Sam James Coffee for the best coffee in town:

Took too many pictures of flowers...:

We had fun taking lots of photos and shopping at all our favourite vintage shops.

Then I went to SJ and Steve's where I took yet another flower shot:

... and we ate ourselves silly at Julies Cuban. :D
